Do you enjoy writing or taking notes of your daily experiences? Are you a hobbyist, who is willing to share thoughts and opinions regarding your interest?
Publishing your own blog site can broaden your audience and will attract other enthusiast to share what they know regarding your interest. You can make a blog using Wordpress or Blogger. In this article I chose to discuss about Blogger because it is much easier to set-up by anybody, techy or not.
BLOGGER.COM
Blogger is a blog-publishing service that allows multi-user blogs with time-stamped entries. Generally, the blogs are hosted by Google at a subdomain of blogspot.com.
How to make your blog site.
  1. Since blogger.com is owned and hosted by Google, you have to create a gmail account. It is as easy as creating other email account such as yahoo and outlook. Open your email dashboard and see if it is working. If you already have one you can use that gmail account.
  2. Add another browser tab and type google.com to the URL field. In the right side of the browser you’ll see a circle with the first letter of your name. If you don’t see it meaning you’re not logged-in to your google account. If not, click the sign-in button to go to the log-in page and log-in using your gmail username and password.
  3. Once you are logged-in, open another browser and type blogger.com. You will go to the blogger page. Click the create blog. A window will prompt you to input your desired blog name or title and the subdomain for blogspot that you will use as your blog URL. Example: MYNAME is the blog title. URL is myname.blogspot.com
  4. After you successfully created your Title and Domain, the blogger dashboard will be created as well. That will be your backend, you will use to create your blog post and pages, change template, arrange layout and change setting.
  5. You can google search free templates that suits your style and design. Choose design fit to your personality. Download it and install as your template. If you have money to buy customized templates go for it, it will help your blog site attractive to viewers. Lay-out of your blog is mostly integrated in your template design. It will depend on what template layout you chose.
  6. Post your first blog. In the dashboard click post. Create the title of your blog. Just like any word editor, the white space will be your word editor. Use it to write your first blog. You can include pictures and links to your article. If you already have ready-made article you can just copy and paste it there. Don’t forget to put label or category of your blog. On the right side of the editor look for label and click it. A text field will show, type the label you want. Each label must be separate by comma. Labels can aid google in the keyword search of different articles.
  7. After you finished your blog, just click the published button and your blog will be on the internet. In your dashboard you will see your first blog on the post list. To view your post, put your mouse pointer atop the title of your post, edit-view-delete button will appear, chose view. A new browser tab will be created containing your new post.
  8. Search on the internet tutorials on how to create and use blogger widgets to make your blog better looking and user-friendly. Like social media icon widget that you put links to your facebook account or page.
  9. You can post as many as you can every day depending on your ability and skills to write. Once you already created dozen of quality articles and the design of your blog is good, you can now monetize your blog by applying to Google Adsense.
  10. Google Adsense has many restrictions and rules but once you are aware of those restrictions and keep your ads placement fair, they will reward you with good earnings.
From here, you can explore more possibilities to enhance your blogging skills and improve the look of your blog. In one blogger account you can create several blogs that you can use to bring different topics to your audience. You can link different blogs through the widgets.
